The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has submitted a proposal to the Union finance ministry's Public Investment Board (PIB) seeking approval for a third terminal (T3) at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. According to airport officials, the project is estimated to cost over Rs 1,200 crore. Once the PIB gives its approval, BPIA can float a tender for the project. Before the tender is floated, a multi-stakeholder meeting will be held to discuss the design, size and pattern of the new terminal. An airport officer said the terminal will be two-and-a-half storeys and that the expansion will enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency. The proposed terminal is designed to allow integrated handling of both domestic and international arrivals and departures.
