Aam Aadmi Party MP Malvinder Singh Kang criticized a GMADA demolition drive in Saini Majra, alleging selective enforcement and calling the agency a 'centre of loot'. GMADA officials said the action followed high court orders.
Mohali: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Malvinder Singh Kang on Wednesday questioned a demolition drive carried out by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) in Saini Majra village, describing the agency as a 'centre of loot' and alleging selective enforcement. Visiting the site after receiving calls from affected residents, Kang said shops belonging to poor shopkeepers and daily-wage earners were targeted while neighbouring structures were spared. He also claimed some shopkeepers paid money to avoid demolition, while those unable to pay saw their livelihoods destroyed. GMADA officials stated the action complied with high court orders. Kang said he had spoken to GMADA chief administrator Sandeep Rishi late Tuesday night to demand a stop to the drive.
