Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit Manipur in the first week of October, according to Chief Minister N. Yumnam Khemchand Singh. The Chief Minister said he called on Mr. Shah at his official residence in New Delhi on Wednesday and updated him on the law and order situation in Manipur. During the meeting, Mr. Shah agreed to lay the foundation stone of a medical college in Senapati district and oversee other developmental projects in the state, the Chief Minister said. Mr. Shah also assured that the Centre would fulfil the aspirations of the people of Manipur. The Home Minister reportedly lauded the state government for resuming the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service and ensuring free movement of all communities on National Highway 2.
