Banned Thai Mangur fish destroyed in Maharashtra's Nagpur

Fisheries Department officials in Nagpur, Maharashtra, destroyed more than 36 tonnes of Thai Mangur fish after discovering it being illegally farmed in 11 ponds in the Chicholi-Mahadula area of Parshivni taluka. Reports say officials received information about illegal farming and sale of the fish in the area. They used Google mapping to identify the ponds and sent dummy customers to verify the information before conducting raids. A team led by Assistant Commissioner Shubham Komrewar carried out the operation with the help of 25 local fishermen, who used nets to remove the fish from the ponds. The recovered fish was then buried in pits and destroyed.
