CEC: Indian EVMs not connected to internet, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said during a Lucknow visit that Indian EVMs are made by public sector companies and have no internet, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi connectivity. He also urged students to verify information before sharing.
Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said on Monday (August 24, 2026) that Indian electronic voting machines (EVMs) are manufactured by public sector companies and do not have internet, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi connectivity. He made the remarks during a two-day visit to Lucknow, where he interacted with students at Colvin Taluqdars' College, according to an official statement.
Mr. Kumar discussed India's democratic system, the electoral process, the reliability of EVMs, and the importance of young voters. In response to questions, he emphasised that the machines used in India are not connected to the internet or any wireless technologies. He advised students to verify the sources and authenticity of information before accepting or sharing it.
