Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed H1N1 preparedness and urged states to strengthen surveillance after Delhi recorded over 1,700 swine flu cases this year.

The Union Health Ministry on Friday asked states to closely monitor influenza trends and quickly manage any unusual increase or clustering of H1N1 cases, as the virus surges in Delhi and adjoining areas. Health Minister JP Nadda, chairing a review meeting, called for continued strengthening of early detection, timely testing and appropriate clinical management of influenza cases. Delhi has recorded over 1,700 swine flu cases this year. The meeting was attended by Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh. Nadda reviewed the preparedness of healthcare facilities in the national capital, including the availability of hospital beds and critical care facilities.
