A road improvement project on Karangalpady Road in Mangaluru, Karnataka, has been delayed for two years, creating a safety hazard outside St. Aloysius Primary School. The unfinished work has left an open drain in front of the school's main gate. The drain frequently overflows, spilling stagnant, dirty water onto the approach road, forcing parents and students to navigate a slippery and uneven stretch when entering the school.
The exposed trenches and stagnant water present safety and health risks to children. The incomplete work has also inconvenienced motorists and pedestrians using the busy corridor. The school management has expressed concern, noting that the school had cooperated with the civic authorities. The MCC commissioner has promised quick action to address the issue.
