The Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully tested its Military Combat Parachute System at 22,000 feet in Nyoma, Ladakh, using an indigenous parachute, computer, oxygen system and jumpsuits.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully tested its Military Combat Parachute System (MCPS) at 22,000 feet in Nyoma, Ladakh, one of the world's highest-altitude drop zones.
During the trial, the parachute was deployed at 20,000 feet and the jumpers landed safely at 13,700 feet. The test was conducted in temperatures as low as minus 15 degrees Celsius.
The test jumpers used the MCPS along with other indigenous sub-systems, including a parachute computer, oxygen system and jumpsuits.
Nyoma is also the site of a recently commissioned Indian Air Force airbase, one of the world's highest airbases for fighter aircraft operations. The area has previously been used for military exercises, including the para-dropping of troops, vehicles and equipment.
