Four Naga residents were killed in a cross-border attack at Pilong, a Tangkhul Naga village in Manipur’s Kamjong district near the India-Myanmar border, a Naga organisation said. Two were shot dead near the village and two others were taken to adjoining Phailen and killed. The group alleged that Myanmar-based Kuki insurgents carried out the attack and held the government responsible.

Four Nagas were killed in a cross-border attack in Manipur, according to the Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Long (WC-TNL). The group said the attack took place at Pilong, a Tangkhul Naga village near the India-Myanmar border in Kamjong district, on Thursday afternoon.
The group said two residents were shot dead in the vicinity of the village, while two others were forcibly taken away to adjoining Phailen and killed. In a statement issued on Friday, the WC-TNL condemned the incident and held the government solely responsible for cross-border terrorism and killings.
The WC-TNL alleged that members of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and Kuki elements backed by the Myanmar-based People’s Defence Force (PDF) carried out the attack. It also alleged that a heavily armed Kuki group crossed the Namya River from Phailen Kuki village in Myanmar. The incident occurred amid continuing violence in Manipur, the organisation said.
