Starting September 1, passengers flying into and out of India will no longer be required to present a physical boarding card at immigration counters, with electronic boarding cards accepted instead.
The Bureau of Immigration will implement a change on September 1 that allows travellers to show e-boarding cards at immigration counters, eliminating the requirement for a physical boarding card. The move follows a communication from Senior FRRO (Delhi) Deepak Yadav, who noted that stamping physical boarding passes after immigration clearance caused inconvenience to passengers and sometimes led to errors in reading passes due to improper or incorrect stamping. Physical boarding passes will continue to be accepted even after the new measure takes effect.
