Indian Railways launches nationwide cleanliness drive for drinking water at stations

Indian Railways has launched a special cleanliness drive across its network focused on cleaning and disinfecting drinking-water tanks and filtration systems, with the aim of ensuring the availability of safe and clean drinking water for passengers at railway stations. The initiative is part of a broader action plan to strengthen drinking-water quality management across Indian Railways. According to an official statement from the Ministry of Railways, Zonal Railways will undertake a comprehensive inspection of water sources, treatment plants, and filtration systems. The plan emphasizes regular inspection and maintenance of the entire drinking-water system, including water-quality testing both at the source and at the point of consumption, rather than relying solely on end-of-pipe testing.
