Indian Railways is set to introduce air-conditioned coaches in the Amrit Bharat 3.0 Express, with the rollout expected during the current financial year. Until now, the Amrit Bharat Express has operated as a non-AC long-distance passenger train, offering general and sleeper class accommodation. The service, launched in 2023, aims to combine affordability with faster travel and passenger amenities similar to those on Vande Bharat trains. According to Indian Railways, more than 60 Amrit Bharat trains currently run across the network. Sleeper class fares are around Rs 500 per 1,000 kilometres, reflecting the service's focus on low-cost travel. Railway data cited in the report shows strong demand, with average occupancy in sleeper class noted as high.
