The agency implementing the delayed railway track doubling between Byappanahalli and Hosur says 89% of physical works are done, with 14 km commissioned and full completion expected early next year. The project has exceeded its original cost by Rs 190 crore.
Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-Ride), the agency implementing the Byappanahalli–Hosur railway track doubling, said 89% of physical works are complete. The railway board sanctioned the 48-km doubling project in 2018-19, and it was handed to K-Ride in 2020. To date, only 14 km—roughly 30% of the stretch—has been commissioned. K-Ride expects the remaining work to be completed early next year. The agency also said the project has already incurred Rs 190 crore more than originally planned, reflecting delays spanning nearly eight years.
