Maharashtra Drug Inspector recruitment cancelled over paper leak
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission cancelled recruitment for Drug Inspector posts after a police inquiry found that the screening-test question paper was leaked.
The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) cancelled the recruitment process for Drug Inspector, Group-B posts in the Food and Drug Administration Department on August 26, 2026. The decision followed an inquiry by the Mumbai Police which found that the question paper for the screening test held on March 22, 2026, had been leaked.
Between July 22 and July 26, some candidates told MPSC that they had received the question paper before the examination began, while others said they had obtained it through social media. MPSC filed a complaint with the Mumbai Commissioner of Police on July 27.
The preliminary report submitted by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch found that, prima facie, one candidate had received the question paper and benefited from it. It was not clear whether multiple people had benefited.
The cancellation has prompted calls for accountability and a re-examination.
