Maoist arms dump recovered in Odisha's Malkangiri district
Security forces discovered a large cache of arms, explosives and IEDs in forested areas along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, police said. The materials were suspected to have been stored by Maoist cadres for attacks against civilians and security forces.
On Wednesday, a District Voluntary Force team unearthed a major Maoist dump during a search operation in forested areas along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border in Malkangiri district. The recovery happened around 5:30 am from the forest areas of Cherkotla, Kirmiti, Kotwapadar and Kadabhata under Mathili police station limits. Police said the operation followed information obtained during the interrogation of surrendered Maoists. Malkangiri SP Vinod Patil stated that the seized items, including guns, IEDs, mines and explosives, were suspected to have been kept by Maoist cadres of the Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee for carrying out attacks against civilians and security forces.
