According to police, the survivor's male friend, also from school, had visited Pachmarhi to meet her. The two met the accused at a bus stand and later went for a drive in a four-wheeler to a forested area near South Scout Guide. Police said the accused knew the victims. After reaching a secluded spot, the accused allegedly threatened the pair and tied the male friend to the vehicle when he resisted. The girl was then allegedly gang-raped. The three accused, including the car driver, were taken into custody and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
