The Madhya Pradesh High Court has allowed petitions by teachers selected through a common recruitment examination, directing authorities to consider their postings according to merit and choices exercised during counselling. A division bench of Justices Anand Pathak and B P Sharma, in an August 19 order, set aside a single-judge ruling that had dismissed the petitions on the ground that the candidates had already been appointed in the tribal welfare department.
The 2018 Professional Examination Board recruitment covered the school education and tribal welfare departments. The process envisaged a common merit list, counselling and allocation of schools based on merit, vacancies and candidates’ preferences. The court directed fresh choice-filling and adjustments within two months.
