Consumers across India continue to wait for new connections for 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinders as supplies remain uncertain due to episodic flare-ups in the West Asia conflict. Distributors in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai said they have not issued any new connections since mid-March. Earlier reports noted that applications for new connections were still on hold months after other curbs introduced during the peak of the crisis were lifted. In a social media response, the Union Petroleum Ministry's grievance redressal platform stated that the hold is due to the prevailing geopolitical situation. Meanwhile, alternatives are being offered to consumers awaiting new connections.
