Congress member Ajay Maken raised the issue during the panel's scheduled hearing on "crimes against children," but committee chairman Radha Mohan Das Agarwal did not allow a discussion, saying the matter was sub judice, according to sources.
The exchanges continued for about an hour, with Opposition members including Congress's Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jai Prakash participating. The committee was hearing officials from various ministries on the scheduled subject.
