Patna authorities propose restricting commercial vehicles on a Bailey Road stretch and diverting autos and e-rickshaws near Punaichak to ease congestion caused by metro rail construction.
Patna is considering a traffic management plan to ease congestion on Nehru Path (Bailey Road) caused by ongoing Patna Metro Rail construction. The plan proposes barring commercial vehicles from the stretch between Patna Zoo Gate No. 1 and the Income Tax Roundabout. It also includes diverting autos and e-rickshaws near Punaichak, a key congestion point, through roads behind Visvesvaraya Bhawan, Punaichak Road, and Atal Path before joining Boring Canal Road via the Mahesh Nagar underpass. Metro construction is underway at three locations along Bailey Road, with the area near Rajbanshi Nagar Hanuman Temple cited as one of the worst congestion points. Traffic movement is reported to be particularly slow during peak hours.
