Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on Wednesday to his Nepalese counterpart Balendra Shah, expressing condolences over lives lost in devastating floods in central Nepal and stating India's readiness to provide all possible humanitarian assistance. He added that the people of India stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal in this difficult time.

The floods swept through two central Nepal districts bordering Tibet, surging along the Bhote Koshi river around 9 a.m. local time. According to reports, severe devastation occurred at settlements along the river, and at least a dozen hydropower projects were damaged. Several fatalities were reported.
