Punjab government OPDs to close Aug 27 amid statewide employees' strike
All government outpatient departments (OPDs) and outpatient opioid-assisted treatment (OOAT) clinics in Punjab will remain closed on Aug 27 as doctors and de-addiction staff join a statewide employees' strike. Emergency services, surgeries, and other essential services will continue.
Government OPDs and OOAT clinics across Punjab will remain closed on Aug 27, following a strike call by the Punjab Ministerial Staff Union and Sanjha Mulazam Manch Punjab. The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) announced the one-day closure in support of the strike, which seeks implementation of the Old Pension Scheme, payment of pending dearness allowance instalments and arrears, correction of Seventh Pay Commission anomalies, and an end to contractual, ad-hoc, and outsourced recruitment.
Emergency services, maternal and child health services, emergency surgeries, indoor admissions, medico-legal and post-mortem work, and judicial medical examinations will remain operational, according to PCMSA. OOAT clinics will also be closed for the day.
