In a joint operation, Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence wing and the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a suspected cross-border narcotics smuggling attempt, recovering 44.5 kg of heroin and 3 kg of methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, from the border area of Gajniwala village in Ferozepur district.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday that the consignment was airdropped using a drone from across the border. He added that a cordon and search operation was conducted jointly with the BSF in the fields of Gajniwala village based on a specific input generated by Counter Intelligence Ferozepur.
Further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the cross-border smuggling network and identify all persons associated with the cross-border handlers.
