Punjab Police and BSF recover 44.5 kg heroin and 3 kg ICE in Ferozepur joint operation
Punjab Police and the Border Security Force recovered 44.5 kg of heroin and 3 kg of methamphetamine (ICE) from a border village in Ferozepur. Officials say the consignment was airdropped by a drone from across the border, and an investigation is underway to trace the smuggling network.
In a joint operation, Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence wing and the Border Security Force (BSF) recovered 44.5 kg of heroin and 3 kg of methamphetamine, also known as ICE, from fields near Gajniwala village in Ferozepur district, officials said on Tuesday.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the consignment was airdropped using a drone from across the border. The operation was based on a specific input generated by Counter Intelligence Ferozepur and involved a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted jointly with BSF in the village fields.
Further investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages of the cross-border smuggling network and identify all persons associated with the cross-border handlers.
