Search continues for 22 missing crew of sunken bulk carrier; Chinese vessels join
Indian Coast Guard and two Chinese vessels are searching the Bay of Bengal for 22 crew members of the Panama-flagged MV Ocean Winner, which sank about 290 nautical miles from Paradip Port. Two of the 24 crew members were rescued earlier.
The search and rescue operation for missing crew members of the Panama-flagged bulk carrier MV Ocean Winner continued on Tuesday in the Bay of Bengal, with no fresh breakthrough reported. The vessel sank about 290 nautical miles from Paradip Port while carrying around 71,000 metric tonnes of iron ore to China. Of the 24 crew members on board, two were rescued earlier from life rafts, while the remaining 22 remain missing. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) is coordinating the operation, with the ICG vessel Vishwast having replaced Vijit at the site and Coast Guard vessel Varad already engaged. Two Chinese vessels have also joined the search, as several Chinese crew members are among those missing. The operation is being conducted amid challenging weather and sea conditions.
