Security heightened at disputed Mathura site as Allahabad HC reviews suits

The Mathura district administration has informed the Allahabad High Court that security arrangements have been made at the disputed Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah site amid concerns over a 'Kar Seva' call. Hindu religious leaders in Mathura had called for 'Kar Seva', described as voluntary action to 'liberate' the site.
During a hearing of Original Suit No. 4 of 2023, filed by the Shri Krishna Janmbhoomi Mukti Nirmaan Trust against the Shahi Masjid Eidgah Management Committee and others, a bench of Justice Avnish Saxena noted that it had received a report from the District Magistrate and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mathura, in a sealed cover. The court reviewed the report and considered that arrangements have been made by the administration.
The Allahabad High Court is examining 18 suits challenging the mosque's presence at the site. Details of the security measures were not disclosed, as the report was submitted in a sealed cover.
