The Supreme Court has constituted a five-member high-powered expert committee, headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice R. Subhash Reddy, to look into allegations of police violence and excessive force during student protests against paper leaks, including NEET-UG protests across the country.

The Supreme Court has set up a five-member High-Powered Enquiry Committee (HPEC) to examine allegations of police excesses during student protests against paper leaks, including NEET-UG protests. The committee will be headed by Justice (Retd.) R. Subhash Reddy, a former judge of the Supreme Court of India.
The other members are Justice Ravi Shankar Jha, former Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court; Justice Shalinder Kaur, former judge of the Delhi High Court; Rishi Kumar Shukla, former Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI); and Dr. L.R. Bishnoi, retired Director General of Police, Meghalaya.
The court order listed issues raised by petitioners that the committee is to inquire into, including the use of excessive force and violence against protesters by police authorities. The formation of the committee follows the Supreme Court's consideration of material placed before it and recommendations made in the matter.
