The Supreme Court has quashed FIRs against NEET-UG protesters. The petitioner in the case has now filed a rejoinder alleging that the Delhi police and political executive acted in a manner contrary to constitutional guarantees and criminal in character, citing a pre-emptive militarised deployment and alleged infiltration of peaceful protesters.

The Supreme Court of India has quashed the FIRs filed against NEET-UG protesters. Subsequent to that ruling, advocate-petitioner Shailendra Mani Tripathi filed a rejoinder in the Supreme Court responding to a police affidavit submitted in mid-August. In the rejoinder, Tripathi alleged that the conduct of the Delhi police and the political executive was contrary to constitutional guarantees and manifestly criminal in character. He listed factors surrounding the July 20 crackdown against protesters, who were overwhelmingly students, including what he described as a pre-emptive and militarised deployment of paramilitary forces. He also alleged that chaotic elements, including Swatantra Bhardwaj and others armed with sticks, had been deliberately infiltrated into the peaceful procession. According to the petitioner, the police and the government have yet to explain their conduct.
