The Supreme Court has asked the National Testing Agency to report on implementing NEET reform recommendations and cautioned the government against replacing committees repeatedly in response to the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) stressed the need to institutionalise reforms within the National Testing Agency (NTA) and indicated that the government must not hop from one committee to another in search of solutions. The court said the constitution of the new task force chaired by Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani should not be seen as discarding "lock, stock, and barrel" an earlier panel headed by a former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief.
The NTA has been under Supreme Court scrutiny since the NEET-UG 2026 paper leaks. The Union government formed the task force chaired by Nilekani to introduce new technological reforms intended to make public exams conducted by the NTA leak-proof. The court directed the NTA to report on implementing the recommendations from earlier reform efforts.
