Doctors in Delhi-NCR and other parts of India report a rise in H1N1 (swine flu) and other respiratory infections during humid, variable weather, urging caution and respiratory hygiene.
Health authorities and doctors are reporting an increase in H1N1 (swine flu) and other respiratory infections in Delhi-NCR and some other parts of the country, according to a report from New Delhi. The rise is occurring amid humid and variable weather conditions, and doctors are advising people to watch for flu-like symptoms and take precautions to prevent the spread of infection.
Seasonal illnesses such as influenza, commonly referred to as swine flu, tend to increase during the monsoon, the report said. Vulnerable groups, including elderly people, young children, and those with existing health conditions, may face a greater risk of complications.
Dr Neeraj Nischal, a professor of medicine at AIIMS Delhi, said common cold, influenza, and other viral infections causing respiratory symptoms are frequently seen during the season. Symptoms can include a runny nose and other respiratory signs, the report noted.
Doctors are urging respiratory hygiene and general caution to reduce transmission.
