Teacher aspirants in Bhopal protest over low recruitment vacancies

Teacher aspirants in Madhya Pradesh continued an indefinite sit-in at Neelam Park in Bhopal on Sunday, pressing the state government to substantially increase vacancies for the 2025 recruitment of Class-2 (secondary) and Class-3 (primary) teachers. The protest began earlier in the week and carried through the weekend, with demonstrators arriving from districts across the state, many accompanied by young children, camping overnight. Organisers said the official recruitment notifications contained only a negligible number of posts, leaving a large pool of qualified candidates without selection. A representative of the aspirants said they had been “treated unjustly and inhumanely,” urging authorities to reopen recruitment numbers. Protesters vowed to remain at the site.
