Police in northeast Delhi's Maujpur have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after the father of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy alleged that the child was physically and sexually assaulted and mentally harassed at a private playschool.
According to the FIR, the father approached police after noticing changes in the boy's behaviour. The complaint states that the child had been unable to sleep properly for several days, was terrified of going to the toilet, and would cry inconsolably at the prospect of going to school.
CCTV footage from the school purportedly shows the child being tied to a chair, kicked, and held by his ears. The police have named the school director, principal, teacher, and a caretaker in the case. The caretaker has been arrested, while the others have not been taken into custody as of the latest information.
The Directorate of Education (DoE) has also ordered an inquiry into the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
