Union Minister J P Nadda met representatives of the 'Reservation Hatao Andolan' in New Delhi on Thursday, days after hundreds of people gathered at Jantar Mantar to demand that economic criteria take precedence over caste in determining eligibility for affirmative action. The protest was held on August 21. Delhi Police said permission had not been granted for the demonstration and detained several protesters who gathered at the site. In a post on X, Nadda said he held cordial discussions with group members Harsh Dubey, Ran Bahadur Singh Chauhan and Mrityunjay Pathak. The group has been advocating for changes to reservation policies and government support criteria.
