The U.S. nuclear industry is preparing detailed submissions to India on draft rules implementing the SHANTI Act, which opens India's atomic energy sector to private participation. India's Department of Atomic Energy released the draft regulations and sought comments by September 4.
The U.S. nuclear industry is set to make comprehensive submissions to India on the draft rules and regulations implementing the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act. The Act opens India's atomic energy sector to private sector participation.
The Department of Atomic Energy released the draft rules last week and invited comments by September 4. The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), which led a delegation of U.S. nuclear industry representatives to India earlier this year to explore civil nuclear opportunities, held discussions on August 20 with legal experts in India and the Nuclear Energy Institute. USISPF said it is coordinating a comprehensive industry submission to the Indian government.
