A video circulating on social media purportedly shows two municipal employees washing the private car of Ramniwas Shah, the MLA from Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh, using a fire tender at a municipal housing premises. The clip drew widespread criticism, prompting scrutiny of the use of emergency resources. In response, Shah said he had no prior knowledge of the incident. He said that after the matter came to his notice, he questioned his driver, who told him the water pump at the mayor's residence had become defunct and the fire tender had arrived there to fill the water tank. Shah explained that his car had just returned from Bhopal and was to be used for several important meetings, so his driver decided to wash it without seeking permission. The MLA insisted the fire tender had not been called by him.
