Tamil Nadu's school education department announced that 614 government school students were provisionally allotted MBBS and BDS seats under the state's 7.5% special reservation for the 2026-27 academic year, according to data from the Directorate of Medical Education and Research.

Of the total allotments, 510 were for MBBS and 104 for BDS. Among the MBBS seats, 323 students were allotted to government medical colleges, 12 to ESI institutions, 166 to self-financing medical colleges, and nine to private universities.
The MBBS allotments by category were: MBC/DNC 205 (40.2%), BC 170 (33.3%), SC 88 (17.3%), BCM 24 (4.7%), SCA 15 (2.9%), ST 6 (1.2%), and OC 2 (0.4%).
Among the 104 BDS allotments, 16 students secured seats in government institutions. Details about the remaining BDS allotments were not provided in the release.
