Anbumani urges TN government to move Supreme Court over Cauvery water shortfall
PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss said the Tamil Nadu government has failed to secure the state's share of Cauvery water and urged it to approach the Supreme Court, send an all-party delegation to the centre, and oppose Karnataka's Mekedatu project. He claimed Tamil Nadu received only about 7 TMC of water in the past three months against an expected 70 TMC.
PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss, speaking to reporters in Edappadi in Salem on Sunday, accused the Tamil Nadu government of failing to act effectively to secure the state's share of Cauvery water. He urged the government to approach the Supreme Court along with delta farmers over the shortage. He also demanded that the government take an all-party delegation to the centre and oppose Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu Dam project.
Anbumani said Karnataka was not releasing Tamil Nadu's due share despite the Supreme Court's order and the Cauvery water-sharing schedule. He stated that Tamil Nadu should have received around 70 TMC of water during the past three months but had received only about 7 TMC, with current inflow still low. His remarks came after participating in an event where thousands of functionaries from other parties joined the PMK.
