CB-CID names six police officers in Tamil Nadu custodial death case
The CB-CID has filed a charge sheet naming six police officers, including an inspector, in the custodial death case of a Scheduled Caste youth, alleging murder and assault.
The CB-CID charge sheet filed in the custodial death case of Akash Delison, a Scheduled Caste youth, has named six police officers, including a police inspector, as accused. A murder case has been registered against them. Delison, from Krishnarajapuram near Manamadurai in Sivaganga district, was arrested on March 5, 2026, in connection with a case in which two people were hacked during a dispute in Manamadurai. He was admitted to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital with injuries and died there. Police had claimed he was injured after falling from a bridge while trying to escape arrest and died despite treatment. His relatives alleged he died due to police assault and staged continuous protests.
