Anti-corruption officials searched 60 locations in Tamil Nadu in connection with an investigation into alleged cartelisation and irregularities in TANGEDCO's purchase of aluminium conductors between 2021 and 2023. Residences of power corporation officials, private bidders, and manufacturers were covered, and documents and digital evidence were seized.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) conducted searches at 60 locations across Tamil Nadu as part of its probe into suspected cartelisation and irregularities in the procurement of more than 2.07 lakh km of aluminium conductors by TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation) between 2021 and 2023.
The searches covered the residences of officials of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL) and other public servants, as well as offices and premises linked to private individuals, bidders, and aluminium conductor manufacturers. DVAC said it seized tender-related documents, digital evidence, other material relevant to the investigation, and details of suspected shell companies.
In Chennai, teams searched four locations in Perungudi, three in Anna Nagar, and several locations in Tiruvallur and Chengalpet. The investigation is ongoing.
