After a media report highlighted non-payment, staff working under Mahalir Thittam in Madurai and Theni received their pending salaries covering five months.

Staff working under the Mahalir Thittam scheme in Madurai and Theni received their pending salaries on Monday, five months after payments stopped. A media report published on June 3 had said nearly 200 staff in the two districts had not been paid since March. According to a staff member working under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), officials responded to the report and disbursed five months' salary. The staff member also said officials assured them that salaries would be paid on time going forward.
