DMK president and former Chief Minister MK Stalin has filed an election petition in the Madras High Court challenging the victory of TVK MLA VS Babu in the Kolathur constituency, alleging discrepancies in vote counts and technical faults in EVMs. He seeks cancellation of Babu's election and declaration of his own victory.

MK Stalin, president of the DMK and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has filed an election petition in the Madras High Court seeking to nullify the victory of TVK MLA VS Babu in the Kolathur constituency. Stalin alleges mismatches and discrepancies in the counts recorded in VVPAT slips, control units, and ballot units, as well as technical faults in electronic voting machines (EVMs) that were left unaddressed by authorities during checking.
He has requested the court to direct poll officials to conduct 100% counting of VVPATs and a complete check and verification of all 286 EVMs used in the constituency within a specified timeframe. The petition states that checking and verification of VVPATs and EVMs at polling stations 1, 4, 17, 28, 32, 75, 78, 79, 84, 87, 112, 122, 157, and 170 began on July 29. Stalin seeks a declaration that Babu's election is void and that he himself be declared the winner.
