The TWAD Board has reduced the daily water supply from the Siruvani Dam to Coimbatore from about 65 million litres a day to 55 million litres, citing weak southwest monsoon rainfall in the catchment areas in Kerala.

The TWAD Board has scaled down the daily water supply from the Siruvani Dam to Coimbatore from around 65 million litres a day (MLD) last week to 55 MLD this week.
Officials attributed the reduction to the weak southwest monsoon in the catchment areas of the dam in Kerala. A senior TWAD Board official said the region has received only about 7-8 mm of rainfall this monsoon, while 50-100 mm is needed for the water level in the dam to rise significantly. As a result, both the water level and the daily supply have declined.
