The accused were identified as B. Velu (36), R. Surya (32) and M. Manickam (36), all from Karamadai in Coimbatore, and R. Senthilkumar (45), V. Viswanathan (38) and R. Chinnadurai, from Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris.
According to the Forest Department, they acted on information from local residents and tracked down the suspects the same day. A case was registered under the Wildlife Protection Act, and the six were arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
