The buses will operate on routes to Arani, Cheyyar, and Tiruvannamalai. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will run the services. Officials said the buses were part of 250 buses launched by the Chief Minister in Chennai the previous day. Polur MLA R. Abishek of TVK attended the flag-off. According to officials, the new buses will help commuters, especially women and senior citizens, travel safely, as many old buses on the routes are damaged. Abishek added that additional buses should be operated to remote villages to reach larger towns.
