Student leader Neha Bora, visiting Chennai as part of her 'Gen Z Rising' tour, said the National Testing Agency (NTA) and National Education Policy (NEP) have helped private coaching industries flourish at the expense of public education. She also expressed solidarity from north Indian students with south Indian protests against NEET and other issues.
Student leader Neha Bora, who recently emerged as a prominent figure during the Jantar Mantar protests in New Delhi, was in Chennai as part of her 'Gen Z Rising' national tour. On Thursday, she criticised the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the National Education Policy (NEP), saying they had created a 'grand private model of education' in front of a public model, with examinations such as NEET playing a central role. She contended that these measures had helped 'private coaching industries to flourish' at the expense of the public.
Ms. Bora also said that students from north India extended solidarity to students in south India who are protesting not only against NEET but also to uphold the federal structure of the State, against the imposition of a uniform culture and language, and against delimitation.
