Tamil Nadu announces AI centres, GPU cluster and Super App
Tamil Nadu's IT Minister R Kumar announced plans for two AI centres of excellence, a state-owned GPU computing cluster, and a Super App to deliver 500 government services on mobile phones.
Tamil Nadu is planning a major push into artificial intelligence and digital services. Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology and Digital Services Minister R Kumar announced in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state will establish two AI centres of excellence, a state-owned GPU computing cluster, and a new mobile application called the Vetri Tamil Nadu Super App. The Super App will bring 500 government services to mobile phones and is to be developed at a cost of Rs 5 crore. A separate portal, with an allocated Rs 1 crore, will be created to collect citizen feedback on government services. The AI centres of excellence will be set up under the Tamil Nadu Electronics Corporation (ELCOT).
