Tamil Nadu Industries Minister S. Keerthana announced a series of industrial projects in the state Assembly on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. A new SIPCOT industrial park will be developed at Mudivaithanendhal in Thoothukudi district, spread over 2,570 acres with an estimated cost of ₹1,390 crore. It is expected to attract about ₹5,000 crore in investment and create around 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, and will house clean and renewable energy-based industries.

The minister also announced a 1,294-acre EV manufacturing park at Sillanatham in Thoothukudi, targeting ₹7,000 crore in investment and 10,000 jobs. Smaller industrial parks are planned at Omandur in Villupuram and Lathuvadi in Namakkal, each expected to attract around ₹1,000 crore in investment.

In addition, the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department will construct safe residential accommodation for more than 2,500 workers at the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Gangaikondan under Phase II development. The ₹130-crore project will be executed by Tamil Nadu Industrial Housing Private Limited (TNIHPL), a special purpose vehicle, with public and private participation.
