Following the transfer of Mangaluru from the Palakkad railway division, people in Tamil Nadu are demanding that Pollachi be moved from Palakkad to Madurai or Salem divisions, citing stronger regional linkages.

A recent decision to detach the Mangaluru railway network from the Palakkad division has sparked a social media campaign in neighbouring Tamil Nadu. Residents and campaigners in Pollachi, Kanyakumari, and Nagercoil are demanding a reorganisation of their railway jurisdiction, arguing it would benefit passengers and regional development.
The key demand is to move Pollachi from the Palakkad division of Southern Railway to either the Madurai or Salem divisions. Campaigners say Pollachi has stronger passenger and regional linkages with Tamil Nadu and that placing it under a Tamil Nadu-based division would improve administrative coordination and passenger services.
The campaign gained momentum after the Mangaluru region was transferred to the Mysuru division of South Western Railway. The demand remains a public campaign; no official decision has been reported.
