Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday night in what officials described as a courtesy visit. It was their first meeting after Vijay assumed office as chief minister. Amit Shah shared a photograph of the visit.
The meeting precedes the 31st Southern Zonal Council meeting, which Amit Shah will lead at a seaside resort in Kovalam on the outskirts of Chennai. The council is expected to deliberate on important inter-state and national issues.
According to the report, participants include Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, and the chief ministers of Kerala and Karnataka. The union government has described the council as an excellent forum for resolving issues and disputes between the Centre and member states and union territories.
