Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has written to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar seeking urgent intervention to resolve UK visa and CAS hurdles faced by over 300 students under the state's Annal Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship Scheme, with the September intake approaching.

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay wrote to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on August 19, urging the Centre to intervene in the UK visa and Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issues faced by beneficiaries of the state's Annal Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship Scheme. The letter detailed the difficulties scholarship students from marginalised communities are encountering in obtaining UK student visas and CAS, and asked the Centre to ensure the state government's scholarship is recognised by UK authorities. According to a social justice department release, more than 300 students are affected, and they are anxious because the September intake is approaching and the recognition issue remains unresolved.
